We originally bought the Roar baby monitor specifically for camping and outdoor trips. The concept is excellent, but the reality is quite different: the overall quality is only mediocre, and the units really do not feel rugged enough for outdoor use.
Disappointing reliability and sudden failure: After about a year of use, the parent unit suddenly stopped working and simply refused to turn back on. For a product marketed for outdoor adventures, the durability just isn’t there.
Ghost support and endless follow-ups: Getting help from them is a constant battle. I had to reach out multiple times via email and their contact form just to get any sign of life. To this day, several of my emails have still received no response at all.
Chaotic shipping and a 2+ month wait: The warranty replacement process was a logistical nightmare. It took over 2 months to finally get a replacement unit. To top it off, the first UPS shipment arrived with over $130 in customs and brokerage fees on a warranty replacement due to their incorrect customs value declaration. Between the excessive delays, total lack of communication, and customs mistakes, the process was completely unacceptable.
The original idea is brilliant, but between questionable build quality and an agonizingly slow customer service that ignores its customers, this product is absolutely not worth the price. Look elsewhere.
